BPS Delivered Keynote Speech at theHAFFA Christmas Luncheon for Senior Executives 2014

On December 10, 2014, BPS Global Group was invited by the Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding Agents (HAFFA)to deliver a keynote speech at their Christmas Luncheon for Senior Executives. The event was held successfully at The Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel. Mr. Lit Fung, our Group General Manager – IT & Automation, has delivered a speech based on the topic “Deployment of Logistics IT Enabling Technologies to Streamline the Flow of Information and Goods along the Supply Chain”.

The idea of dimensional weight (DIM) is getting more popular in the logistics field. Charging based on dimensional weight is a more effective way for service providers to allocate space and avoid under-charges, thus result in an increase in revenue.To align with such business change, how can service providers calculate dimensional weight accurately to avoid confusion? Automation is a possible way to solve the problem.The Automated Dimensioning System is a measuring system that allows users to gain total control in distribution centers or warehouses. This system collects raw data (weight and size) quickly and consistently. The data can be transferred to the data processing system easily such that it can be used immediately.By making use of load plan system and TMS, service providers can archive a faster and more accurate operation and thus optimize the whole loading process. With better performance in operation, it can save cost and increase revenue in the long run. Application of automation might add cost to the operation at the beginning, but this initial investment is inevitable for generating further revenue in the future.
