BPS Global and HKU Releases Results of Survey Focusing on “Hong Kong’s Logistics Industry and Land Supply”
In order to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a world-class transportation and logistics hub, to enhance its competitive advantages in the logistics industry, and to address future development opportunities and challenges, BPS Global Group sponsored the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering of the University of Hong Kong to conduct a survey on the topic of “Hong Long’s Logistics Industry and Land Supply” in March 2014. The opinion survey exercise was twinned with a questionnaire survey and a series of focus group discussions involving 387 industry professionals (six focus group meetings were held and 356 valid responses were collected). The survey discussed how to promote sustainable growth, integration and the use of logistics land resources, limitations and problems of industry planning and development, and how to best work with the Government to seek a breakthrough in logistics industry development.
Professor George Q. Huang, Head of Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering of The University of Hong Kong, and Dr Wong Yiu Man, Group Technical Director of bps Global and Immediate Past Chairman – Manufacturing & Industrial Division of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, jointly announced their findings on the survey findings press conference held on 28 April, 2014 at Eaton, Hong Kong. Representatives from the professional logistics associations attended the results announcement, specifically showing “P-I-L-L (Policy, Investment & IT, Lands, Labour)”, the four critical factors hindering the further development of Hong Kong logistics development.
Industry has shown that they are cautiously optimistic on the local logistics industry development, but it is absolutely imperative that the Government works together with the industry to improve and optimise the existing environment.
