Water scarcity has become a global issue affecting people and the problem is worsening due to heavily polluted water and great demand of daily consumption by human activities. In recent years, many environmental institutions attach great importance to water resource by organizing different Eco-friendly events with the aim of raising the awareness of people on environmental protection, as well as water conservation.
Water Race 2017, which was organized by Wofoo Social Enterprises, co-organized by The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), supported by HSBC and has entered its fifth year. This year, the event gained supports from various social sectors with the increasing number of participants.
On May 20, more than one thousand people participated in this pioneer project which strives to promote the concept of water footprint to the public, arouse their awareness of water crisis. The event was held at Sha Tin Racecourse. BPS Staff and their families were eager to join the race and were well prepared that day. Within a designated time limit, participants were required to reach different designated checkpoints and complete a few funny tasks related to “water” at each spot. Through interactive participation, the staff were not only entertained but also educated about the importance of water resources, especially on river ecology and freshwater resources.
BPS Global is keen on devoting to charitable activities and has contributed greatly to social responsibilities. It encourages staff to take action to environmental protection.
