Water scarcity has become a global problem affecting people and the problem is worsening due to water pollution and great demand of daily consumption by human activities. In recent years, many environmental institutions attach great importance to water resource by organizing different environmentally friendly events with the aim to raise the awareness of people on environmental protection, as well as to advocate water conservation.
On 20th March, more than one thousand people participated in Water Race 2016 which has been organized by Wofoo Social Enterprises, co-organized by Water Supplies Department and sponsored by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited since 2013. This is a pioneer project which strives to promote the concept of water footprint to the public, arouse their awareness of water crisis.
The event was held at Central Harbourfront Event Space. A mini carnival was held in the venue during the race. There were different music performance and booth games about water conservation.
BPS Staff and their family were eager to join the race and were well prepared that day. Within a designated time limit, participants were required to reach different checkpoints and complete a few fun tasks related to “water” at each spot. Through interactive participation, the staff were not only entertained but also educated about the importance of water resources, thus encouraging them to put water conservation into practice.
BPS Global is keen on devoting to charitable activities and has contributed greatly to social responsibilities by joining Water Race for 4 consecutive years. It encourages staff to take action to environmental protection.
