Island Resort Mall Internal Layout Alternation & Lobby Upgrade Project
Project Background
Owned by the Sino Group, Island Resort Mall is the shopping mall of Island Resort in Siu Sai Wan, Hong Kong. To cope with the business development and meet different tenants’ requirements, the Sino Group repartitioned the shop of an area with 3,000sq.ft.. Renovation project was also carried out in order to improve the appearance of the shopping and thus to increase its competitiveness.
Project Challenges
- Major works were carried out in phases for different zones during the peak hours of the mall in order to minimize negative impact of the project to the tenants and visitors. Noisy works were arranged to be carried out after the working hours.
- New shops would be rented by different tenants with various business natures. Different design concepts had to be applied to meet various tenants’ practical needs.

Investment Term
- Thanks to the effective communication between the design team and the tenants before starting the project, the design team worked out the shopfront design and internal layouts that are well-suited for tenants.
- Glass shopfront construction was conducted alongside the upgrade work for interior finishes in order to speed up the whole project.
- For tenants who had moved in before the project, the glass shopfront construction was conducted at low noise levels in order to minimize negative impact of the project to the tenants and visitors.
- The shopping mall reached 100% occupancy after completion of the project. Shops are now occupied by different tenants with various business natures. The makeover successfully stimulated more business activities and consumer spending in the mall.
