Project Background

Carlsberg Hong Kong Logistics Centre was originally located in MongKok Freight Terminal and relocated to TuenMun as the terminal had to be returned to the landlord. To utilize the warehousing area spanning over 60,000 sq.ft., Carlsberg commissioned the BPS Global Group to provide the turnkey solution for their new warehouse including relocation service, demolition works, warehouse design and facility & equipment supplies. To complete the relocation on schedule and increase the efficiency of the new warehouse are the major objectives of this project.

Project Challenges

• Project schedule of the new warehouse setup was very tight, as Carlsberg had to move out the old terminal within a short period.
• The cold warehouse in the new site will be used for red wine storage which requires a very accurate temperature and humidity control.
• Existing loading dock layout design could not fit the actual operations, and resulted in the low logistics efficiency.
• Many SKUs were storing in a single type of racking and it led to the increase of production cost.

Investment Term

• Dock levelers were installed near the loading dock on the 1/F of the new warehouse, filling the gap between the vehicles and loading dock in order to speed up the loading/unloading.
• New design of racking system and zoning in the warehouse were applied in order to utilize the warehousing space.
• Office area on the 2/F was separated into different size upon Carlsberg's request.
• Temperature and humidity in the cold warehouse are controlled at a certain level.
• With the perfect warehouse layout design, the productivity is significantly improved by utilizing the warehousing area and reducing the production cost.
• Closely monitored and managed by BPS, the project was completed on schedule. Carlsberg relocated to the new warehouse and came into the smooth operation right away.
